FLEGT stands for Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade. The EU FLEGT action plan was established in 2003. It aims to reduce illegal logging by strengthening sustainable and legal forest management, improving governance and promoting trade in legally produced timber. Countries around the world are acting to combat illegal logging and promote good forest management. Read more about FLEGT on this page from the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority.How do you treat teak?Teak wood is extremely weather resistant by nature and will turn a platinum grey in approximately 8 to 12 months due to the effects of weather. We always recommend treating our teak furniture with a high quality teak sealer or stain before assembling the balcony hocker. Thus, we guarantee the best protection from the elements such as sun and rain. It is best to use a transparent matte cover to best retain the colour. Always apply it to the underside as a test before treating the whole product. This prevents a potentially undesirable color effect from being visible only at the bottom. For this we recommend Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Wood Protector or Teak Wonder Teak Sealer.Is the balcony hocker easy to assemble?The balcony stool comes disassembled in a sturdy box and is easy to assemble. The hocker consists of 6 separate parts and is assembled on both sides with 8 included stainless steel socket head bolts to form a robust and sturdy unit.
